THE PRICE OF LIFE

According to the Bible, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Senator Ben Nelson's price
was considerably higher, but his sell-out just as ignoble.. The Nebraska Democrat who threatened a veto
over the pernissive language in Harry Reid's healthcare reform bill that would have allowed massive
expansion of the federal funding of abortion finally acquiesced to fancy language that still allows federally
subsidized insurance plans to offer the procedure. For his cave-in he got several hundred million dollars in
special help for Medicaid hospitals in his home state. Another day, another dirty Democrat deal.
It has been revolting to listen as Senate abortion queens Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD)
and Patty Murray (D-WA) ramble on about women's "reproductive healthcare." Reproductive healthcare
is the euphemism they use instaed of "abortion" or "killing babies," both of which are too revolting for
their delicate sensibilities and inflammatory for the American public, a majority of which disapproves of
the practice completely, let alone the use of public funds to pay for it.
Nelson's purchased vote gives Reid the sixty he needs to pass the bill in the Senate. Then it will go to
the conference committee for reconciliation with the House bill that contains the "Stupak language," wording
introduced by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI)to make any funding of abortion with public money illegal. House liberals
have vowed to strip out that language in conference, and if they do and it goes back to the House without the provison,
Stupak has promsed that he and at least fifteen others will vote against final passage. We'll see whether he has the
courage of hisconvictions, or whether millions more of our taxpayer dollars will be used by Barack Obama's Abortion
Administration to buy him off too.
As disingenuous as the "reproductive healthcare" euphemism is, all the prattle about a woman's freedom
to choose is no less nauseating.. Why can't women exercise their "freedom of choice" not to have unprotected sex
if they don't want to get pregnant? Why must the innocent unborn pay for their thoughtless stupidity and sexual
irresponsibility?
Unless Bart Stupak and his associates stand their ground in the House, there is little those of moral conscience
can do to stop this baby-killing juggernaut engineered by the Abortionist-In-Chief, Barack Obama. Some day
he and God will have a chat about that, and we'll see what he's  "on the cusp of" then, Many of us who consider
ourselves patriots have never even thought about cheating on our taxes. But when the government wantonly
and intentionally expresses its intent to use our tax dollars for such an obscenely immoral practice, some of us
just may think again. In 2012 we can tell the arrogant oaf in the oval office just where he can stick his "historic"
healthcare reform.

GIGGLING WHILE DEMOCRATS SQUIRM

I do so love it when Democrats, hoist on their own petard, start squirming and wriggling like so many worms
on a baited hook. Obama is so desperate to get his "signature" healthcare initiative passed that he clearly no
longer even cares what's in it. That was the sound of a flushing toilet you heard when the White House told
simpering Harry Reid to cut a deal with Joe Libermann, whatever it took, while the "public option" went down
the drain.
Listening to the Democrats faunch and fume at Liebermann and Ben Nelson because the former doesn't want
spend the country into bankruptcy and the latter doesn't think the taxes of those who morally oppose abortion
should be used for that dastardly purpose has been a real delight for conservatives. And seeing how low and
mean-spirited Democrats can get, even with each other, is like watching a bunch of rattlesnakes try to commit
suicide. Liberal blog Firedoglake tried to get celebs like Ellen DeGeneres to pressure the Susan Koman breast
cancer fund into sacking Hadassah Libermann, Joe's wife, because of his opposition to their beloved government
run healthcare option. That must make the cowardly halfwits at Firedoglake feel like real men to atack a man's
wife for his point of view. But it's par for the Democrats' course. The Komen group's response? Hadassah stays!
Now some Democrats. notably former party chairman Howard Dean, are saying liberal Dems should vote
against their own bill because they didn't get everything they wanted. Is that kind of nursery school logic
really the best the party in power has to offer?
They have placated Liebermann by removing the public option and the early Medicare buy-in, and they may
yet cut some kind of abortion deal with Ben Nelson. But they hate the bill as it has deteriorated around them.
and the press conference photo of Reid, flanked by a scowling Tom Harkin, a positively pallid Chuck Schumer,
a cadaverous-looking Max Baucus and several other liberal Democrat notables was worth several thousand words.
Those bent on stuffing through a bad bill Americans don't want are choking on a little crow of their own.
Too bad, how sad.
Reid has tried to blame the struggling bill's failure to pass on stubborn, united Republican opposition. He has
said that it's hard to dance when your potential partner won't get off the chair. Perhaps that's because the only
music Reid would allow to be played were the Public Option Polka, the Abortion Twist and the Coverage for
Illegals Bougaloo. Laying the gridlock off on Republicans is completely disingenuous. Reppublicans have said
from the outset that they would never support government run insurance and that they opposed any public
funding of abortion or subsidized coverage for illegal aliens. So it should come as no surprise to dimwit Reid
that they have followed through on their promise. The reason the healthcare bill is still languishing in debate
is simple. It's the Democrats! They can't get enough agreement within their own ranks to overcome a filibuster.
They overreached, assumed too much and now their moderate members have openly rebelled.
While it is fun to watch the Democratic demamgogues drowning in the very cesspool they dug, the chances
are still strong that they will cut enough deals to pass a "healthcare reform" package that slashes Medicare,
raises taxes and increases health insurance premiums. Some reform! But they want to give Obama a Christmas
present. Vermont's Bernie Sanders (socialis toady) introduced an amendment yesterday that would have
reinstated a vigorous public option. the GOP's Tom Coburn of Oklahoma insisted, as was his right under Senate rules,
that the clerk read the entire 767 page amendment aloud before debate could begin. That would have taken
approximately seventeen hours. Three hours into the reading Sanders withdrew the amendment. Sorry Dems,
nobody ever said the fleecing of America was going to be easy.
The best hope is that between the Democrat holdouts and Republican stubborness, a vote can be delayed
until after the Christmas break. Should that happen, it is important that each one of us call our senator and let
him or her know that it's time to junk this monstrosity of a bill, go back to the drawing board and work out a truly
bipartisan bill that will actually save us money and improve healthcare for everyone. Let them know that if
they vote "yes" on this turkey you'll be voting "no" when they want to be re-elected. The Democrats made
this mess, and it;s because they can't unite that it's still hanging. How embarrassing, how ironic. and what a
hoot. Maybe America will get the Christmas present and Obama will get the lump of coal. Let's hope.

WHO THE DEMOCRATS DON'T REPRESENT

After polls showed across the board that a majority of Americans opposed it, it was nauseating to
watch the House Democrats standing and applauding themselves for passing their version of healthcare reform
anyway, by the narrowest of margins and with a significant group of their own jumping ship in embarrassment.
It begs the question. Just who do the Democrats represent? Who they DON'T represent is obvious.
Democrats don't represent American seniors. They've voted to strip billions out of Medicare, and
did they use it to make the struggling program more solvent? Of course not! They used it to fund their
shiny new entitlement giveaway. They voted as a party to scrap Medicare Advantage, and voted against
the Gregg amendment in the Senate that would have forbidden the use of Medicare fuding for non-
Medicare purposes by a 56-43 margin with only three Democrats joining Republicans to protect Medicare
from the rape and pillage Democrats propose. They argue, of course, that they're going to do it by cutting
waste and fraud (which they should have been doing already). But are they going to wait until they see
if they can actually find $500B in waste and fraud before they spend it? Of course not! So let's just say,
for the sake of argument, that they can find only $300B in waste and fraud. But they've already spent the
other $200B. So what's going to heppen? Since instead of cutting the fraud and waste first, they've guesstimated
it and if they're wrong who's going to eat the other $200B? Doctors? Hospitals? Pharmaceutical companies?
Sure, when pigs fly! Seniors are going to eat it in higher co-[ays, deductibles, rationed care and increased prmiums.
It's as obvious as can be, only the Democrats don't care. They're going to have their healthcare giveaway come
hell or high water. But make so mistake. Democrats don't represent seniors in America. Not even a little
bit. And anyone 55 or older that votes for them has been drinking too much Kool-Aid.
Democrats don't represent small business. Ronald Regan said that government's motto is "if it moves, tax
it, if it slows down, regulate it, and if it stops, subsidize it." The Democrats heartily agree, and are doing all
three with great vigor. In a recession featuring double digit unemployment the Democrats propose hitting
small businesses with a triple whammy. First, their "tax the rich" scam will hit small businmess owners
hard. This is the Dems' idea of wealth re-distribution. Then, they'll force them to provide health insurance
for all their rmployees or pay a fine equal to 8% of their payroll. Then, to finish off the few that are left,
they intend to either pass cap-and-trade legislation or impose Draconian EPA regulations to limit carbon
emissions, thereby guaranteeing heavy retro-fitting costs for already sinking businesses. Should there be any
left after that, there's always the union card check legislation to drive small businesses into the same success
pool as Chrysler and General Motors. (Or is that just a cesspool)? Fewer than 3% of Obama's cabinet and
high government appointees have any experience in the real world of business. They're all Ivy league
theoreticians or Chicago crooks. Barack Obama and the Democratic party are the biggest enemies that
small businesspersons have. If you are one (and I feel sorry for you), remember that voting Dem is voting
dumb!
Finally, it's crystal clear that Democrats don't represent the innocent unborn. At this very moment they are
waxing eloquent in the Senate chambers arguing that taxpayer money should be allowed to fund abortions.
Obama, now widely know as the "Abortion President" has already removed prohibitions to government
funding for clinics that perform abortions abroad. His chief political advisor, David Axelrod, has said that
Obama "cannot bide" the language of the Hyde prohibition being put in the healthcare bill. Democrats argue
that it's a health bill, not an abortion bill. But when they stripped out the Hyde language they MADE it an
abortion bill. We'll see of the few pro-life Democrats have the guts to vote against the bill if it has no such
prohibition. The day this bill passes will be a very bad day to be a defenseless fetus!
One could go on about all the different groups of Americans the Democrats do not and never will represent.
If you take a close look at the groups the Dems do not represent, an appalling pattern becomes clear. With
AARP in the administration's pocket (and they are) seniors have no lobby with which to fight back. Small business
cannot match the large campaign contributions of Wall Street giants and the unions, so the Dems once again
choose to supposrt the big and powerful over the small and weak. Not content with spewing their ravages on
those already in the world, the Democrats take joy in empowering those who wish to kill babies. Babies, small
businesses, the elderly. Do you get it yet? Barack Obama lied when he said that no public funds would be used
to fund abortions, he lied when he said no public funds would subsidize insurance for illegals, he lied when he
told seniors that if they liked their health plans they could keep them and he's lying through his teeth when he
says this "heathcare reform" bill will not increase the deficit. Stop and think about who you really want running
the country.

DEBATING THE BIG LIE

Within a few days the United States Senate will begin debate on the so-called healthcare reform bill drafted behind
closed doors and then disclosed privately to members of the majority before either the minority or the public were
allowed to see it. Once debate begins. seanators will have an opportunity to propose amendments before a final bill
can be voted on. The process is expected to be long and acrimonious.
What is most astonishing is that grown men and women, elected to the snior house of the legislature by their own
respective constituencies will spend so much time discussing, and then trying to pass into law something that does
not even rise to the level of good fiction. It is, instead, a flimsy tissue of outright lies.
At Barack Obama's insistence the language of the Stupak-Pitts amendment prohibiting the use of any federal funds
for abortion has already been stripped out of the bill. If it passes in its current form. it will constitute the largest
expansion of abortion since it was legalized,  use tax dollars to pay for elective abortions and penalize private
insurers who do not wish to fund abortions. There are two issue here. First, if you believe the killing of unborn infants
is immoral, you cannot support this bill. Second, whatever you believe about abortion, if you believe your tax
dollars and the taxes of those who do object o moral grounds should  not be used to fund elective abortions
then you cannot, in good conscience, support this bill. Bart Stupak (D-MI) has promised Nancy Pelosi that if the
bill comes back from the conference committee without the amendment banning public funding of abortions she
will lose ten to fifteen votes toward final passage. The bill only passed by five votes,
Second, the message that the bill will not increase the deficit, either in the short or long term, and that it will reduce
the costs of medical care are groundless fantasies based om hypothetical projections much like those used to pass
Medicare and Medicaid, both of which are now nearly bankrupt and continue fueling the deficit. It's a lie, plain and
simple. If you believe it you might as well believe in the Easter Bunny!
Third, the notion that the only tax increases will be for the wealthiest class is false on its face. In fact, taxes will
go up on small businesses -- that's right, the ones run by Joe and Mary Middleclass. And those new taxes on wheelchairs,
crutches, breathing assistance machines and the like. Do you believe that only the wealthy buy such things" If ever there
was a true gouge, this is it. Let's take healthcare for the poor out of grandma's social security. It's obscene!
Fourth, if you believe it's possible to whack $400M out of a program like Medicare without reducing the availability
and quality of care, then please say hello to the tooth fairy for me. If this government can save that much in fraud and
waste then why didn't they start doing it when Obama took office and use it to avoid some of the bailouts? They can't
do anything like what they're promising. The Congressional Budget Office knows it and I guarantee you that senior
Americans know it.
Fifth, how can any sane adult believe that an entity that makes and enforces the rules governing health insurance
can go into direct competition with those who have to live by those rules without gradually squeezing them out
of business? This is one of the biggest Obama lies of all, and it's so obvious it's hardly worth arguing. It's why
Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) have said they won't vote for any bill that inclides the "public
option," and why Repuiblicans unanimously oppose it.
Finally, if you want to look through a crystal ball at the future of government run healthcare, just look at what
a wonderful job it has done with the H1N1 vaccine that's been too little, too late and is still not available to
all of the at risk. This is what big givernment does to just about everything it touches. It can't even accurately
count the jobs that have been produced (or not) by the great stimulus boondoggle that should never have been.
But the fact that in spite of the obvious mendacity with which this president and the Democratic party have
tried to sell America this tripe, they continue to trumpet it from the rooftops, even applauding themselves for
thinking of it, The resaon this administration has abandoned the prosecution of marijuana violators is that they
hope more Americans will smoke themselves into a stoned stupor until they can slide through a entitlement
program that will hopelessly indenture future generations to an unsustainable debt, and not fix anything now
in the bargain. Joe Lieberman, Blcnahe Lincoln, Ben Nelson and Mary Landirieu are the key senators who
can block this misbegotten bill from ever soming up for a vote. Write or call them if you can. Tell them you;re
counting on them to see through the lies and vote "no" for cloture. Maybe that will finally give this "Abortion
Presidnet" something to think about.

PROOF POSITIVE THAT OBAMA LIED!

When President Barack Obama addressed a joint session of congress, he stridently and aggressively made
certain claims about the bill Democrats were trying to pass and that he supported. At one point he was
interrupted by Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) who shouted, "You lie." Wilso was subsequently
pilloried in the media and disciplined by Democrats in the House for his outburst. Ensuing events have
proven beyond a shadow of doubt, however, that Obama did lie, and did it repeatedly. So the real
question is not why did Joe Wilson shout, "You lie?" The real question is what will it take to muster
the intestinal fortitude in the rest of us to do the same?
The facts speak for themselves. Obama claimed that the proposed healthcare reform would not allow
coverage for illegal aliens, A Sebate committee spent the entire week after the promise had been made
stripping out the loophole that proved Wilson's contention. Now, the Houseof Representatives, caving
in to the Hispanic Caucus, has put it back. Illegal aliens will be able to get insurance through the "public
option." Democrats point out that they will have to use their own money to do it, but  ignore the fact that
the reason they will be able to afford it is because it will be subsidized by your tax dollar. Wilson was right!
Obama lied then, and he's lying now if he says that the House bill just passed will not cover illegals.
Obama promised that healthcare reform would not provide federal dollars to pay for abortion. It was a
lie when he said it, and it was a lie up until an hour before the health vote in the House. Democrat Bart
Stupak (R-MI) put together a coalition of pro-life Democrats and threatened to join Republicans in
blocking the healthcare reform bill's passage unless it strictly prohinited any use of federal dollars to fund
abortion. His amendment to that effect was known as the Stupak-Pitts amendment. House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi prevailed upon pro-choice elements to agree to its passage in order to bring the bigger bill to the
floor for a successful vote. The amendment passed 240-194. Does anyone want to bet that Pelosi didn't
promise the pro-choiceers that Stupak-Pitts would be stripped out of the final bill in conference? If so,
you're on! If Obama was telling the truth, then why was Stupak-Pitts necessary? Clearly, it wouldn't have
been. Obama lied through his teeth.
The president promised that "if you like you;re healthcare plan, you can keep it." To ten million seniors
on Medicare Advantage that was a lie, because all the existing bills de-fund Medicare Advantage in order
to pay for healthcare reform. This means that those seniors will not. as Obama promised, be able to keep
the healthcare plans they are happy with. They will eventually have to purchase a medicare supplement
plan which is several times more expensive and does not cover much of the preventive and maintenance
care that Medicare Advantage allows. Obama lied to ten million seniors, and he did it knowingly and to
gain political advantage. How much lower can it get?
It's not okay for presidents to lie to congress or the American people. When Democrats became convinced
that George W. Bush had deceived congress and Americans about the reasons for invading Iraq, they labeled
him a liar and pressed the assertion through the remainder of his term and throughout the 2008 election
campaign. They had far less proof that Bush lied that we now have that Barack Obama did. When it comes
to prevarication, America has allowed its leaders a good deal of slack (Johnson, Nixon, Clinton, et al). But
when deception becomes the daily modus operandi of an entire administration -- from the White House right
down through the congress -- Americans are unlikely to be so charitable. It is a painful thing for a nation
to admit that its elected leaders were elected and continue to govern supported by a tissue of premeditated
falsehoods. Obama promised that if opponents said things that weren't true about his beloved healthcare
reform "we're going to call you out." Well, Mr. President, you have lied to us, repeatedly and premeditatedly.
Now we're calling you out. That's what comes just before we throw you out!

MADOFF'S GOT NOTHING ON HARRY REID

While crooked financier Berniie Madoff rots in prison, Harry Reid is running a scam which, over the next
decade, will make Madoff's swindle look like a church picnic. He's calling it the "public option with an opt
out provision." The hook is that states not wanting to participate in the "public option" can simply choose
not to do so. That Reid and the Senate liberal Democrats think Americans can be duped by so  blatant a
falsehood shows how little they think of regular citizens.
Here is the lie: states can opt out of participating, but they can't opt out of paying for it. It's like when you
go to the ice cream shoppe and order a double decker cone. When the clerk serves it up you have to pay
for it. If it doesn't look or taste like you hoped, you can just not eat it. But you can't get your money back.
The Democratic healthcare reform boondoggle has fifty-nine billion dollars in new taes wrapped inside.
Citizens, small businesses and seniors whose Medicare gets cut are still going to have to pay those taxes and
put up with those cuts whether they "opt out" or not.
So what's the difference between plain old government run healthcare and "opt out" hea;thcare. Nothing
but words. Bernie Madoff promised people returns that consistently exceeded the market. And since he
was using new investors' money to pay off old investors he made it look like it worked. Democrats are
doing exactly the same thing with their healtcare reform proposals. They can't deliver the cuts and savings they
promise, or do what they're proposing without increasing the deficit, or do it without egregiously increasing
taxes on the middle class. If you believe they can, you're a bigger sucker than Madoff's entourage. Even
the Congressional Budget Office doesn;t believe it. When you stop believing the adage that when something
seems to good to be true, it probably is, you're just sticking your chin in the air and saying "hit me please."
The Democrats are just itching to oblige.
In the Baucus version of the Senate health bill it was even proposed that granma's wheelchair rental be
taxed. Talk about kicking someone who is down. But they're determined to have their socialized medicine
at any cost, especially when taxpayers are footing that cost. I used to have an old Springer Spaniel named
Duke who'd wander all over the place. But the one thing you knew for sure was that when the dinner plate
started rattling he'd be right there to stick his nose in it. The Democrats are equally reliable. Anytime there's
a new entitlement to be handed out and a new tax to raise they'll do it as reliably as the sun rising in the
morning.
Hopefully there are a few Democrats who have not taken leave of their senses. There is hope for Joe
Lieberman, Blanche Lincoln. Ben Nelson and a few others. But Harry Reid will do everything on top of
and under the table to make them accomplices to his great scam. What if there really was no difference
between a convicted swindler and the Senate Majority Leader? One's in prison. Maybe the other one
should join him so they can have a good laugh together over how they scammed America.

BADLY NEEDED: THE PARTY OF NO

Weekend talk and news programs ran rife with chatter about whether Republicans may face an electoral
backlash if they remain united in their opposition to Obamacare in light of the compromise proposals being
floated on Capitol Hill. Such speculation is proof positive that politics inevitably spawns drivelish reasoning.
It is important to understand that ALL the compromise proposals are compromises between disagreeing
Democrats, not bipartisan overtures from Democrats to Republicans. And every one of them contains a
version of the same poison pill the GOP has thus far refused to swallow: the government run healthcare
option. If I am deathly allergic to peanuts and you offer me a menu choice of peantut butter, peanut brittle
or peanut clusters, that really doesn't give me a genuine choice. I'm dead either way. The Democrats are
determined that they will have their precious "public option" by hook or by crook, and the criticism that
Republicans are unduly negative for resisting all versions of it is specious on its face.
Juan Williams of NPR, during recent appearances on Fox News panels, has accused Republicans of
being MIA on healthcare reform. This is a judgment by one who apparently takes only selective note of
the facts. The fact is that Republicans in the House of Representatives have submitted thirty-four separate
healthcare reform bills, none of which was given the time of day by the Democratic majority. Every
amendment offered by Republicans to Democratic bills has similarly failed. How can one play in the big
poker game if the ante is to concede in advance that the other guy wins every hand?
While Democratics are so enthused about the "public option" that they can offer it to us in chocolate,
vanilla or strawberry, they are similarly disinterested in tort reform, allowing insurance companies to
compete across state lines and the formation of state or regional insurance cooperatives, all Republican
ideas about how to save healthcare dollars, and all validated by the congressional budget office. Now which
is the "party of no?"
Americans need to encourage Republicans and moderate Democrats to stand their ground and courageously
say "NO." NO to expensive government run healthcare, NO to the cap-and-trade energy tax, NO to blanket
amnesty for illegal aliens, NO to socialism in any form and NO to allowing the United Nations to make virtual
laws constraining Americans! Because if we become a society so eager to get to "yes" that we can no longer
find strong voices to say "no" to ideas that are foreugn to our Constitution, our history and the majority
values upon which this country was built, then we stand to lose everything that is America. Thank God for
legislators and parties and Tea Partiers who are willing to stand up to a bullying president and just say NO.

SUPPORT A PUBLIC OPTION!

Even as liberal Democrats cling desperately to hopes of passing a "public option," wherein the same
government that regulates healthcare would enter into "competition" with private sector companies
selling healthcare insurance, I am writing my congressman and asking him to submit companion
legislation that extends the "public option" concept to banking. After all, isn't it a fundamental right
of every American to be able to keep safe what little of our money the government allows us to
keep?
Under such legislation, the federal governent would get into the banking business. (Oh, darn, they've
already done that). But they could actually open branches of a U.S. Federal Bank in every community,
charging lower interest rates, backing all deposits with the full faith and credit of the government, reducing
overdraft charges to a maxiumum of $5, extending long grace periods for late payments on credit cards they
issue and zero late fees, free checking and high interest on savings. Then they could give a check for $250
to everyone who opens an account. Meanwhile they could squeeze competition by tightening regulations
to force them into the same practices. If those businesses then bacame unprofitable they could either
bail them out (tisk) or let them fail. It would be kind of a "single banker" system. That way everyone could
have an account even if they were broke, by using the $250 giveaway as an initial deposit, and since most
services would be free, everyone could afford it. That way, the feds could mandate that every American
have such an account. It could even have a "trigger" in case silly banks seeking a profit don't play ball.
It could also be extended into the real estate market because, if you believe the Democrats, every American
has a fundamental right to home ownership. The feds could open a federal real estate brokerage in every
community, charging sales commissions that are a  fraction of current practice, selling Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac mortgages directly to citizens without going through mortgage banks and federally guaranteeing
that whether you can afford the home you're buying or not you can never be foreclosed. Excellent!
Then perhaps the same plan could be extended to American automakers (whoops), because everyone has
a fundamental right to get around. Or maybe to laundries and drycleaners, because every citizen needs clean
clothes, and to grocers, for everyone has the right to eat. You see how it goes -- AND HOW UTTERLY
RIDICULOUS IT IS.
One must ask, then, how an idea so preposterous on its face could gain credence with so many elected
officials. Is the air in D.C. really that polluted? The so-called "public option," triggered or otherwise, will
end up running private insurers out of business, leaving American healthcare in the hands of a bumbling
government bureaucracy that has already proven it can't organize an egg on toast and will be forced by
massive shortfalls of cash and medical providers to ration care. Believing the bogus financial calculations
propping it up is dumber than believing in the tooth fairy.
Nevertheless, it is important that grownups in American society DO support a public optiion: the one
we'll have in 2010 and 2012 to send the big-taxing, big-spending Washington liberals packing back to Chicago.
That's the public option worth supporting. While Obama, surrounded by his "Forty Thieves" (the czars) fiddles
away trying to prove that there is, after all a free lunch, those who aren't smoking what they apparently are
need to get to work finding ways to solve current problems that won't bankrupt future generations.

WHAT IF HEALTHCARE IS NOT THE POINT?

Since Barack Obama's ascent to the White House and the Democrats' seizure of near absolute power in
both houses of the legislature, we have seen a constant reign of intrusion on business and industry in the guise.
of bailout. Banks and automakers have been seized and virtually nationalized. An ever expanding
net of government regulation has blanketed for-profit enterprise and lawmakers have proposed new taxes
on businesses and individuals making over $250,000 annually. The theme of Obama's campaign was that
of "re-distribution," by which he meant taking from those he deemed to be rich, and giving to those he
deemed poor. These and other developments have led to renewed charges that Obama and the Democrats
are socialists whose goal is to remake America in the likeness of the socialist democracies of Western
Europe.
Theses related events have attracted scant attention by comparison with the raging debate over healthcare
reform which, in most of the pending bills propose a virtual government takeover of the medical and
health insurance industries either through regulation, or by a combination of regulation and competition
that makes the for-profit insurance industry untenable This, in effect, is a government takeover of one
seventh of the nation's entire economy.
Great promises have accompanied the much ballyhooed reform package. It would reduce national health-
care costs, add nothing to the deficit, make affordable universal coverage available and reduce healthcare
premiums. That's what we were told. Now, according to a number of studies, we see that in fact national
healthcare costs will rise 2.1% even if the trillion dollar bills become law, premiums will skyrocket almost
immediately, millions of Americans will still not be covered (under any version) and while some of the bills
are deficit neutral over the first ten years, all of them will increase deificit to unsustainable levels (a la
Mediacare) during the second decade. Additionally, while benefits would be four years in coming, tax
increases required to pay for them would be immediate, and there would be an enforcible mandatethat all
Americans must purchase insurance.
All of this begs an important question. If reform is not going to cut costs or be long-term deficit neutral,
and if it still leaves some citizens without coverage, then what is it really about? What if it is only a link
in the chain of a massive government takeover of the enture national economy? What if, as Democratic
Representative Barney Frank has stated, the "public option" is really the doorway to a single-payer system
by which the government pays for and thus controls all aspects of healthcare (socialized medicine)? What
if a Democrat victory in passing healthcare reform is simply a springboard to the next link in the chain, the
passage of the cap-and-trade government takeover of the energy industry.
In the heat of debate, with numbers, cost estimates and methodologies flying randomly back and forth, it
is easy to lose sight of the forest for the trees. Healthcare reform is just a swell. The brick-by-brick
deconstruction of capitalism (as one of Obama's "czars" put it) is the tsunami. Does healthcare need to be
reformed? Of course! Do American families need accessible, affordable coverage. Undoubtedly! But do we
need to burn down the best healthcare system in the world and replace it with a bureaucratically run
entitlement boondoggle that jeopardizes our national economy, heaps an additional burden on taxpayers
and projects the spectre of rationed care that we see in other scocieties that have adopted it? By no stretch
of the imagination UNLESS it is simply a steppingstone to something bigger and more insidious. Despite
the derogation of America that the country is "too racist for socialism" by Obama czar Cass Sunstein, one
cannot help but wonder if that is not Obama's goal. To paraphrase Socrates, "The unexamined bill is not
worth passsing."

THE TWO-SIDED COIN OF DECEPTION

In a recent televised discussion a commentator pointed out how many broken promises, misstatements
of fact, egregious embellishments and downright prevarications the president had been caught in by the
media and his critics. The response from a well-known Democratic political strategist was, "Oh, come
on. You know how politicians are. They say whatever they need to say to get elected." I could not help
but think what a deplorable situation it is when Americans must assume that their elected officials have
lied to them, and that those same officials expect Americans to think nothing of it.
Political mendacity comes in many forms. The most popular is making outlandish promises to achieve
things beyond the candidate's control, or that defy the known laws of probability. Take for example the
promise to provide affordable healthcare to 47 million uninsured Americans, the centerpiece of the
Obama campaign, The promise was to insure the uninsured without raising taxes on the middle class,
increasing the deficit or subtracting coverage from those who have it. Now this was a promise that could
never be kept. Even today, after months and months of debate and numerous studies, no one has
the slightest idea how much healthcare reform as proposed by the Democrats will really cost. all of
the ways in which they have proposed to pay for it vastly increase taxes on everyone, deprive
tem million seniors of the policies they now have and may well drive up (not down) the cost of all health
insurance. If you tell a real whopper, what are a few more little white lies to prop it up?
Another form of political lying is egreguious embellishment. Take for example the story Obama told in
his address to congress about the man in Illinois who lost his insurance after he became ill and was left to
die. But those darned fact checkers discovered that the man did, in fact, get his coverage back, and though
he died (much later) it was from another disease. So what was portrayed as a gross miscarriage of justice
perpetrated by an evil insurance company resulting in an individual's death really turned out to be something
entirely different. It was a good story to hammer home Obama's point. The problem is that iy just wasn't
true.
Many other Obama promises and others by congressional leaders and senators are of the same ilk, They
are bogus, pie-in-the-sky, unsubstantiated fabrications. But the real problem is that when Americans
become hopeless, cynical and disenfranchised, they also become gullible. The believe not because promises
pass the smell test, not because of facts or historical precedent or common sense, but because the lies are
glibly told and because we so desperately and idealistically want to believe that we forget ourselves and
hope that wishing will mae it so.
The two sides of the coin of deception are that yes, politicians lie in order to get elected and/or stay in
power. But we choose to believe those lies, all evidence to the contrary, because that's how we wish things
were. Then come the consequences! We are now staring down the barrel of a multi=trillion dollar healthcare
entitlement that will (a) not lower healthcare costs (at least not so far as the congressional budget office
can prove) (b) raise taxes on everybody (and anyone who says otherwise is a liar) (c) eliminate the options
and ultinmately marginalize all healthcare for seniors, (d) lead to a single-payer system where the
government makes our healthcare decision because they have to in order to keep their socialized system
afloat and (e) lead to long-term deficits that will break America financially. Democrats claim otherwise,
but they still don't have a shred of hard proof to back up their bogus promises.
The president and Democratic leades are insisting that a bill be passed this year. Why? If the ten
million Americans (a real number) who want health insurance and can't get it are the problem, then let's
addresds that.If avaricious profits in the healthcare industry are a culprit, then let's tax or regulate those.
If drug companies are pillaging us then let's deal with them like we did with Wall Street swindlers. The point
is that one need not burn down the entire healthcare system and start over with the government in
control in order to meet the most pressing needs. By now Barack Obama has clearly demonstrated
that, far from being divine, he's not even a very strong human being. Believing his promise that this
enormous new entitlement can be achieved without raising taxes, increasing the deficit or penalizing
senior citizens is like believing the moon is made of green cheese. Shame on him for lying to us! And
shame on us for believing him!

WHAT OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT THE BAUCUS BILL

Tomorrow the Senate Finance Committee will vote on the healthcare reform bill that Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT)
believes can receive the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate floor test that looms ahead. He is banking on three factors.
First, by deep-sixing the "public option" has has removed a huge obstacle for Republicans and Democratic moderates.
Second, by getting the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office to tender an opinion saying that the bill will reduce the
deficit over ten years, he placates those who have feared the cost of reform would be backbreaking. Third, he is
depending on "generalized language" to obscure loopholes in the bill that would be deal killers for many. Hopes are
running high at the White House and elsewhere on Capiytol Hill that now, finally, this will be the big breakthrough.
But as usual, there are some things they don't want Americans to know.
They don't want you to know that while the billions in tax increases necessary to fund the bill will take effect
immediately, the actual benefits to Americans will not kick in until 2013, four years down the road. So the plan
is to heap a significant extra tax burden on a nation where unemployment grows week-to-week and the ravages
of a deep recession are still a real economic facrtor for most families. "Pay as you go" seems to have given way
to "collect now, offer something in return much later."
They don't want you to notice that while the tax increases they are proposing are very real, the projected
savings in Medicare and Medicaid fraud and waste are theoretical. Oh. they're there all rigjht. Bit no administration
has yet been able to corral them. The Democrats answer? Just cut payments to Medicare and let the doctors
and hospitals figure out where the wate and fraud is. How many are stupid enough to really believe that this is
not going to cut benefits to seniors in the end?  And what happens if the cost of the program and the taxes to
support it take shape, but the forecast savings do not? More deficit, seniors without benefits, doctors doing
something else for a living, hospitals closing their doors?
Obama and the Democrats don't want you to know that by refusing to put plain language in the bill to bar
federal dollars paying for abortions and bar illegal aliens from seeking coverage under it, they have left
gaping loopholes to ensure that it WILL happen. The truth is that they WANT it to happen. The Roman
Catholic Bishops are screaming that it will happen. The preponderance of public opinion is strongly against
both, but Obama and the Democrats think they know better than the poor, dumb voters.
They don't want you to know that there is a limit to their power to regulate nsurance premiums, and that
insurers will retain the right under the law to pass on the Draconian tax increases imposed on them by the
government to us as consumers. A recent Price/Waterhouse study suggests that under the Baucus Bill
premiums for an average family could jump by $1,700 annually, and for indivifuals by at least $600. Who
does Obama think he's kidding. His only goal is to insure the uninsured on the backs of the rest of us. He
just isn't honest enough to come right out and say so.
Finally, they don't want you to know that they still plan to slip the "public option" into the final version of
the bill, using either parliamentary maneuvers on the Senate floor, or the Senate-House conference committee
to do it behind closed doors. They are depending on being able to strongarm their moderate members by
threatening to hold back support for upcoming elections if they refuse to go along, They want their beloved
competition-killing public option, and they have every intention of getting it. The Baucus concession was
only designed to disgorge a bill from the committee quagmire.
Life has taught me a really important lesson. It's that when people are trying to hide things from you,
it's because they know you wouldn't like those things but they want to do them anyway. The theory is that
if you don't see it coming it won't hurt as bad. It was easier fighting King George in the 18th century
quest for freedom. At least he was honest!

AARP'S DEVIL'S BARGAIN

The American Association of Retired Persons has cut a deal with Barack Obama that effectively sells
10,000,000 seniors down the river. That's right! A desperate president whose healthcare reform concept is
in trouble and desperately needing AARP's endorsement, threw the left-leaning profiteers at AARP a
whopper of a bone in return.
AARP makes millions through a partnership with United Healthcare in which they jointly market
medicare supplement plans to seniors, i.e., AARP's members. Medicare covers only about 80% of
Medicare recipients' medical costs. The supplement picks up a percentage of the rest. The catch? It's
on top og the $96 plus mnthly Medicare deduction and it's expensive. But ten million seniors found a
better way when competing insurers partnered with government to offer Medicare Advantage. By
bargaining with providers of medical services, equipment and drugs, Medicare Advantge was able to
secure the lowest possible prices for seniors, as well as providing preventive care and extra services
like chiropractic care and accupuncture that other programs don't cover. Medicare Advantage plans
begin at zero payment in addition to monthly Medicare but may require some minimal payment if
higher risk patients demand additional coverage. AARP and United Healthcare, of course, don't like
Medicare Advantage because it detracts from their business selling high cost Medicare supplements.
The answer? Come out in national support of Obamacare while he and his Senate cronies make
Medicare  Advantagego away. Take the trouble to read the bills currently in the Senate and you'll see
that that's what they've done. AARP has already launched national television ads debunking "myths"
about Obamacare spread by critics.
Let's look at an example of what this foolish move will mean for millions of senior, using the case
with which I am most familiar, my own. My wife and I both have Medicare Advantage plans. I pay $67
monthly for mine, over and above the $96.40 Medicare, while my wife pays nothing additional, If both
of us were forced to go on an AARP/United plan with the minimum protection offered, our joint tab,
based on prices at the beginning of the current year, would be over $300 monthly above and beyond
what we pay for Medicare. That's over $500 a month, and doesn't even include the prescription drug
plan we have now, or any of the ancillary benefits afforded by Medicare Advantage, In my case, the
promise of Obama and AARP that if I like my plan I can keep it is a flat LIE. I can't keep what will
no longer exist, and may not be able to keep my doctors, depending on who does and doesn;t accept
my new plan. My total out-of-pocket will be over $300 a month or $3,600 a year, so the claim that
Obamacare will cost this senior less while mainatining the same services is, again, a flat LIE. Current
healthcare reform bills will be financed on the backs of seniors -- at least the ten million of us that
have Medicare Advantage plans. Democrats' claim to the contrarty are an embarrassing tissue of lies.
Obama is so desperate to pass his miserable excuse for a health reform plan that he is clearly wiiling
to blatantly lie to Americans in order to get it. AARP, which has been lying about a lot of things for a
very long time has signed onto this latest whopper for the basest of all reasons: GREED. There are
ten ,illion of us who will remember you in 2012, Mr. President, for exactly what you are. And while
we're busily burnng our worthless AARP cards, we'll also be filling out our ballots -- FOR ANOTHER
CANDIDATE!

FLYING PURPLE PEOPLE EATER?

Years ago an obscure singer by the name of Sheb Wooley popularized a nonsensical ditty dubbed
"One=Eyed, One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater." The fantasy creature utilized descriptors
people were familiar with such as "eyes," "horns" and "purple," but it existed only in the songwriter's
vivid imagination, reviving in a  silly way the old debate between Plato, the Idealist, and Aristotle, the
Realist. Does something exist in reality just because someone can conceptualize it and talk about it?
And just because something has definable, familar components, do they exist in combination in the
real world?
Barack Obama's utopian vision of healthcare for all Americans is very reminiscent of the "One-Eyed,
One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater." He tells us that a massive increase in the number of Americans
covered by his new health plan will actually drive down medical costs, slash the deficit and improve the
quality of medical services. He says that we will all be able to keep our own doctors and the health plans
we are happy with, even as Democrats hack away at Medicare Advantage funding, thus jeopardizing ten
million seniors in those plans who will NOT be able to keep them because they will no longer exist. He
tells us that the plan will absolutely not cover illegal aliens, nor will government funding cover abortions.
All the while congress stubbornly rejects amendment after amendment designed to plug the obvious loop-
holes that would make such travesties reality. Obama tells Americans that he can slash $500 billion from
Medicare in waste and fraud without negatively impacting senior healthcare, even though he intends to
accomplish this simply by cutting payments to providers and letting them try to find the savuigs, with the
net result that the honest providers trying to work within the system are penalized right along with the
fraudsters and wastrels. He tells us that he can establish government run insurance, the "public option,"
without driving private insurers out of business. Finally, as the crown jewel of his fantasy, he insists that
he will accomplish all this without raising taxes. Yeah, right!
Now Obama communicates all of this with his customary glib, slick charm. He marshals his army of
adoring sycophants to sing songs and paint pictures and write poems praising his vision. Sheb Wooley
sang a nice little song, too, but no one was dumb enough to think his imaginary creature was real. But
Obama is countng on three factors to get his plan passed into law. First, he is banking on the fact that
because Americans believe healthcare needs to be fixed (and it does), they will buy into his unrealistic
plan for fixing it. The "any port in a storm" gambit is alive and well. Second, the components he is
talking about -- stable taxes, insurance for the uninsured and the uninsurable, portability of coverage,
the need to reduce deficit, the elimination of fraud and waste -- are all familiar and important to most
citizens. And the combining of these promises into one vision, however impossible, is bound to have
appeal for the wishful. Third, as a last resort he is banking on the Democrats' "supermajority" ramming
some version of his plan down America's throat, because despite what the polls clearly show about
what Americans do and don't want, he is convinced that he and his party know better. How do you spell
a-r-r-o-g-a-n-c-e?
But the sad fact remains that a healthcare reform that cuts costs, covers everybody, allows freedom
of choice, maintains stable taxes and doesn't negatively affect the quality and quantity of care is, at
present, just like the "One-Eyed, One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater." It's fun to talk about (and just
about everyone is), but it doesn't exist anywhere out there in reality. And the quickest way for Obama to
become yet another Democrat one-term president (remember JimmyCarter) is to promise people the
"One-Eyed, One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater." only to deliver some mutation with a blind eye and
a broken horn that, although purple, eats only tax dollars.
When legislators scurry to meet artificial deadlines, stifle full and fair debate, refuse to publish the full
text of a bill before votoing on it (because they know voters will be outraged), threaten to use paliamentary
tricks like "reconciliation" to force through ill-considered legislation that fundamentally deceives and defrauds
Americans and then concedes that they can't and won't even read the entire bill themselves before voting on it,
the stage is fully set for the irreversible enshrinement of a socialized medical system that will only work
for those who can't afford anything else or those too rich to nned it. Guess who that leaves out. Right, all
the rest of us in the middle. So much for taking care of the middle class. And guess who will end up paying
for it. Right again! Those of us in the middle, because the poor can't and the rich aren't rich enough or
numerous enough to do it.
Have you seen any One-Eyed, One Horned Flying Purple People Eaters today? Neither have I. But
the President of the United States and his corrupt party are promising to show us one. I, for one, am not
holding my breath. Lots of Americans were born at night. But not LAST night!

LIAR, LAWYER, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF?

During President Obama's speech to the joint houses of congress on healthcare, he made the claim
that his program would not provide healthcare to persons in the U.S. illegally. That statement so
incensed South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson that he broke legislative protocol and shouted
"liar" at the president. While the president has accepted Wilson's apology, Democrats in the House
are threatening him with censure if he does not formally apologize to them.
So lost has the controversy become in Wilson's angry outburst and what should be done about it,
that few have even stopped to think about whether his charge was true. Certainly there is value in civility,
and in abiding by traditions, and in that sense Wilson's behavior is unjustifiable. While the bath may be
ineffective or undesirable, however, we ought not hasten to throw the baby out with it. Was Obama or
was he not lying?
HB 3200, which we must assume Obama was talking about, does not, in fact overtly provide funds
to specifically cover illegal aliens with health insuirance. Neither, however, does it overtly prevent
such coverage, and Democrats have repeatedly rejected the attachment of enforcement measure that
would require persons seeking coverage to prove citizenship. That would seem to make their intent
clear enough. Further, the old principle of law is that "what is not specifically forbidden is permitted."
So, without some enforcement measure in place, there is absolutely nothing to stop illegal aliens from
claiming that they are citizens and registering for government funded healthcare. At least not under
the terms of HB 3200. Did President Obama know this at the time he made the statement that drew
Wilson's ire? Of course he did! Was he dodging the issue by hiding out under the umbrella of "the bill
doesn't say it covers illegals?" Probably so. Is that dishonest? You be the judge.
Then there is the troubling case of two California initiatives to plug their own loopholes. Submerged
in a sea of unsustainable taxes and flooded by illegals who were bleeding their capacity to provide free
public services dry, California passed two bills denying such services to the undocumented. The problem
is that this remedy apparently runs afoul of the Constitution which holds that services provided by
government to its citizens must also be provided to other residents, both legal and illegal. Both were
thrown out as unconstitutional by district courts. Now, the president is a constitutional lawyer who has
actually taught constitutional law in the law school of a prominent university (The University of
Chicago), right? One must ask if it is plausible to believe that the president of the United States is
ignorant of the California debacle and of the constitutional provisions cited by the courts in reversing
those bills. If he is a good constitutional scholar and has a whole legal staff to track and research
these precedents, how could he not know that if he gets his "public option" it must, by law, cover
illegal aliens as well as American citizens? And if he knew and STILL persisted in promising congress
and America that illegals would not be covered by "his" plan, was he not, in fact lying? (The PC term
is "misrepresenting the truth." Would Joe Wilson be in less hot water if he had yelled that?)
The problem with rushing "healthcare reform" through, as Obama is seeking to do, is that it simply does
not allow time to weed out the loopholes, contradicitons, unconstitutionality and impracticality with
which HB 3200 is riddled. Censure Joe Wilsod for poor taste if you will. But Obama needs to be held
accountable for the inaccuracies and mendacity of his own statements. Quick to call his opponents
liars, he might have bent a few truths himself.

A FEW QUESTIONS, MR. PRESIDENT

Everyone knows that America needs healthcare reform, Mr. President, and you are to be applauded
for making it a high priority on your agenda. Your speech last night was so important that I listened
carefully to every word -- even read the transcript afterward. The whole debate is so opaque, so
murky, that I was hoping for real clarification of your position and the important aspects of the issue.
But after hearing you, I still have some lingering questions. So do other Americans, and if you could
just answer them I believe we could shortly have a bill that most would sign onto.
You said at one point that under your plan illegal aliens would not be covered. I'm not sure which
plan "your plan" is, since the only thing we have concretely on the table is HB 3200, which does NOT
specifically exclude the undocumented from coverage. Further, you continue to use the number of
fifty million to describe the uninsured, and I'm not sure how you could get to that number without
including the undocumented. So please tell me, Mr. President, if the undocumented are really not
going to be elligible, why is it that YOUR party persistently blacks amendments to HB 3200 that
would say so in plain language and provide enforcement measures to guarantee it? It just appears
to some of us that while YOUR words are conveying one message, THEIR actions, which will eventually
constitute the law, are sending a contrary one. Could you please clarify?
You also said that no taxpayer funds would be used to fund abortion. But HB 3200 says no such thing.
In fact, YOUR party has blocked at least nine amendments that would have guaranteed your promise.
Why is that, Mr. President? Are we just supposed to blindly believe your assertion, when all of your
administration's policies have blatantly favored abortion? How can we believe you if the law under
consideration doesn't say it?
You say that reform. including the "public option" will be paid for by saving $500 billion in
Medicare waste and fraud. Who decides what's wasteful? Is a second test to confirm further development
of a disease wasteful? Is chemotherapy for a senior believed to be terminally ill wasteful? Is natural
medicine or physical therapy wasteful? Who decides? What are the MEDICAL qualificatiions of
those who do? And beyond that, you ask us to believe that YOU can cut payments, improve care
and not create more deficit spending when the Congressional Budget Office says the exact opposite?
We're pretty gullible, Mr. President, but what proof can you cite that would cause Americans to
believe that you -- more than those who have preceded you -- can do the impossible?
You said that you want bipartsianship in the healthcare bill. Whys is it, then, that YOUR parrty
has completely refused to consult with the opposition to get such a bill, that when Republicans wrote
you a letter asking for a meeting YOU did not grant it, that Republican alternatives to your vision,
which are also embodied in bills, are never debated or brought up for a vote? Why do YOU, in a
nationally televised speech, categorize differing interpretations based on your mixed messages as
"lies," and why does your party persist in calling those who do not agree with them "Nazis"
"teabaggers" or "astroturfers?" You seem to be giving lip service to bipartisanship, while YOUR
actions, and those of YOUR party remain bitterly partisan. Can you explain that to us, Mr.
President?
You see, once your teleprompter has gone blank, America is still left with a host of unansered
questions, and a myriad of contradictions between YOUR words and YOUR party's actions -- between
the vision you tout and what the only bills Americans have read actually say. What we want, Mr.
President, is some consistency, some common sense, some straight answers, some inclusiveness.
Otherwise we must conclude that the only ideas you're really interested in hearing are those that
agree with your own, and that's just not the way Democracy works. Or are we going to reform
that too?
