In the raging debate about healthcare reform, the issues are set in bold relief
by the fact that the Democratic party proposing the government takeover of
the most private, intimate and sacrosanct transactions of our lives persistently
refuses to answer a set of specific questions. And their perpetual silence
speaks volumes.
Question #1: If, as the president has said, HB 3200 does not intend to
provide public funding for abortions, then why have the Democratically
controlled House and Senate rejected all nine proposed amendments
specifically banning such? The true answer is that Democrats fully
intend to fund unlimited abortion on demand, but since polls now indicate
that a majority of Americans oppose abortion, they don't have the guts
to say so and are trying to slide it in under the radar.
Question #2: If, as Democrats claim, 45 million more Americans will have
covered access to medical care, yet there are no provisions in HB 3200
to train more doctors and nurses, where is this alleged healthcare coming
from? The true answer is that fewer will enter the medical professions under
socialized medicine, not more, and the additional 45 million will have to
divide available services with those already covered, thus making healthcare
rationing inevitable.
Question #3: If the intent is not to offer free healthcare coverage to 12-20
million illegal aliens, then why have Democrats explicitly rejected everty
attempt to place enforcement measures (identification) in HB 3200? The
true answer is that Democrats, by excluding enforcement provisions, have
every intent of laying the healthcare bill for those in the country illegally
on the backs of American taxpayers.
Question #4: If, as President Obama claims, the purpose of his National
Health Committee is not, in the end, to set up a system whereby healthcare
can be rationed, then why not specifically and permanently exclude that
from their statutory function? The true answer is that rationing is the
Democratic goal, and that the "death panel" charges are not as far off
base as one might think
Question #5: If the purpose of HB 3200 is not to arrive at a "single
payer" system (with the government being the single payer), then why
does America need the "public option," wherein the government, which
makes the rules, enters into direct competition with private sector
insurance companies. Won't this ultimately put those companies out
of business? The true answer is that the government will simply undersell
and regulate private insurance companies out of business. House
Democrat Barney Frank has admitted, in an unguarded moment, that
HB 3200 is the best way to achieve a single payer system.
Democrats will never answer these and other questions about their
radical healthcare reform proposal because they know that direct and
truthful responses will outrage the American public, doom their utopian
spendthrift initiative and lead to their defeat in future elections. But
their boldfaced mendacity has overtaken them You simply can't fool
all of the people all of the time.
