Sometimes it's a good idea to tke a break from the rat race and check your vitals, just
to be sure everything's okay. That's as true of a nation as it is of the private
citizen. Stop for a minute, look around. How's America doing eight months
into the historic Obama election? Which way is the country headed with
the Democrats in total control of the congress?
Now trillions in the red, Obama and the Dems have come up with an ingenius
idea. Let's avoid bankruptcy by spending more money that we don't have. Let's
tax soda pop, energy, capital gains and, oh yes, the filthy rich to pay for a
trillion dollar healthcare scam that the congressional budget office promises
will neither reduce healthcare costs or improve the quality of care. Let's
reduce the benefits of those who have paid into Medicare their entire working
lives in order to insure those who have contributed nothing. Since the
government has been so successful running businesses, let's have them take
over General Motors and Chrysler, throw in a few major banks, insurance and
financial services companies. And let's have the government run our healthcare
system where they can control fully one-seventh of the gross domestic product.
How are we doing so far?
And if we're the president let's jump in, absent all the facts, to exonerate the
minority suspect and call the police stupid. Then let's try to smooth our blunder
over by inviting everyone to the White House for a beer. Who is the stupid
one, I wonder? And when abroad, let's bash America at every opportunity,
deny its Christian heritage, apologize for its conduct, trash its citizens. Let's
turn our backs on our most important ally in the Middle East (Israel) after
promising not to during the lie-infested campaign. Let's stand by while Iran
goes nuclear, after saying that such an outcome was unacceptable, stand
by while North Korea mobilizes for war and bring trained terrorists to American
soil so they can be acquitted by a justice system that routinely favors criminals
over their victims.
Let's ban offshore drilling, ignore the fact that the clear majority of Americans
doesn't want government run healthcare. Let's engage in endless payoffs to
powerful unions, double people's energy costs, defend politicians caught
lying or with their hands in the public cookie jar (Dodd, Conrad, Pelosi, Rangel
Murtha, Waters, ad nauseum/ What's not to like about all of this, America?
Finally, in the face of Obama's stern promise that he will not raise taxes
on the middle class, let's enjoy his surrogates on Sunday television talk TV
promising that it's not a matter of "if" but of "when" such increases are
coming to pay for healthcare reform we don't want and mind-boggling
deficit spending we don't need. Heard enough?
In the light of day, it becomes obvious that George W. Bush could not
possibly have told as many lies in eight years as Obama has in eight
months, and that we have elected a consummate flim-flam artist to the
highest office in the land. It is further evident that congress is in the
control of people who are outright crooks, or have lost their minds. How
do you feel about that, America? Yeah, me too! Maybe it's time we did
something about it.
