Democrats in congress just played the biggest April fool's joke of all on the
American public, passing a budget of $3.5 trillion, by far the largest in our
nation's history. They did it during a near-historic recession. They did it in
full knowledge that it would lead to huge deficits for years to come. They did it
breaking all the fundamentals of economics which hold that taxes should NEVER
be raised when the economy is in recession. They did it fully intending to
continue bailout spending for mismanaged failed businesses. THEY are the fools!
Many battles lay ahead regarding just how the money -- most of it borrowed
from a hostile regime in Beijing -- will be allotted. Will the president get his
universal healthcare, his cap-and-trade Ponzi scheme, his welfare state?
Those issues are yet to be debated, but this budget lays the groundwork for it
all.
Worse yet, look who is going to be in charge of the spending. There's
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner who didn't pay his taxes. Was he a cheat,
or simply incompetent? In either case, do you trust him to manage all that
money? Then there's Energy Secretary Steven Chu who has argued that
the USA really needs $8 a gallon gas to cut down on the pollution from
driving. And there's Energy Czar Carol Browner who, while Clintion's EPA
Director, shredded documents in contempt of a court order to refrain from
doing so, and had to resign from the executive committee of a world
socialist organization to join the administration. She is the push behind the
disastrous cap-and-trade scheme being pushed by the White House, a policy
that will cost every family in the country $3,100 -- in a recession, no less.
Do you trust her? A professor named Groves who is a partisan Democrat
and advocates statistical sampling, a technique that guesstimates population
based on urban trends has been selected by Obama to head the census. What
do you think he might do? God only knows! Now Obama wants Kansas Governor
Kathleen Sebelius as the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Oops! She
didn't pay her taxes in a full and timely manner either. And this is the short list
that doesn't even count those who cheated on their taxes or are being probed
by grand juries for corruption and had to withdraw from consideration. Why
were they being considered in the first place? Do you mean to tell me there
are no HONEST and REASONABLE people competent enough to work in this
administration? It's sobering to realize that the foregoing catalog of dubious
characters is going to be handed $3.5 trillion of OUR money to SPEND.
But from all of this, three things are clear. One, Obama and his Democratic
congress have struck out on a militant, take-no-prisoners crusade to enact
ALL of their policies BEFORE the American public wakes up and throws them
out of office. The nice words about bipartisanship have proven an empty
sham, as White House minions and congressional sycophants lash out daily
at Republican and media critics and seek to employ sleazy parliamentary
tricks to muzzle all opposition to their spendthrift agenda.
Second, they are committed to enacting THEIR agenda with OUR money?
If, for example, the cap-and-trade scheme were to become law, each family
would pay about $3,100 annually (the first year) above what they now pay
for energy (lights, heat, transportation). Subtract the $800 per couple "tax
rebate," and it still means Barack Obama's policy will cost every family
$2,300 more than last year. With unemployment at 8.5%, 401K's decimated
to half their value of a year ago and banks teetering on insolvency, does
this make ANY sense? If you think so, I'd like to know what you're smoking.
But the Democrats' minds are made up about "global warming," in spite of
the scientific proof that the earth has actually been cooling for the last eleven
years. And when faced down by scientists who don't subscribe to their pet
theory, Al Gore's answers sound like "the dog ate my homework." But because
THEY believe it, WE are expected to pay for it -- through the nose.
Third, Obama's promises not to raise taxes on any but the wealthiest are
now fully exposed as campaign lies. There is absolutely no way to pay for
this monumentally stupid budget EXCEPT to raise taxes, and you haven't
seen anything yet. Come to grips with it! Government doesn' pay for
anything. Taxpayers pay for everything. And so the only sources of money
are increased taxes, borrowing from foreign creditors and thereby growing
the deficit, or simply printing it, de-valuing the dollar and stoking inflation in
the process.
The only question that remains is one of who is the biggest fool? Is it the
one who proposes such preposterous spending, or the fools who voted for
him? The result is that we'll be re-living April 1st every day for the next four
years, and it will hurt more and more on each April 15.
