Socialism is the perfect disincentive for "getting ahead," because the whole point of
it is that no one's supposed to BE ahead. Underachieving citizens lead to unproductive
societies and rewarding failure by bailouts -- whether corporate or individual -- will
only produce more failure. Socialism does not work, and neither do those who live
under it until it evolves into some form of Communism and all work is forced. So
who, in the USA wants socialism, and why?
There are several groups of supporters. First in line are the poor. They think that
socialism is code for welfare, and that a socialist government will give them something
for nothing. Most of them are not students of history, and so do not realize that there
is no free lunch and that giveaways are an illusion. An example would be a government
that sends families an $800 welfare check (oh, excuse me, "tax rebate?) and then hits
them with a $1,600 carbon tax. Math isn't their strong point either.
Next on the socialist bandwagon are the liberal intellectuals. These elitists already
have theirs, and you can bet that it's salted away somewhere safe from the grabby
hands of the tax man. These nerds sit around all day prattling about social justice,
as though stealing from those who worked for what they have and giving it to
those who have nothing because they haven't worked for it is in any sense just.
The equality they long for exists nowhere in nature, but these pompous asses
still believe, contrary to all historical evidence, that socialism and communism are
the tools through which THEY can create it.
Certain special interest groups such as the environmentalists and immigrant advocacy
groups are right there, too. Their problem is that they have no power, and they crave
it. They think "power to the people" means they can enact their own agenda unchecked
when power and wealth are appropriately redistributed. They can't read history either.
The problem is that little power ever GETS to "the people." It all ends up in the
hands of the same few who then share it in meaningless dribbles so they can keep
manipulating the powerless masses.
But most of all, the Democratic leadership wants socialism. Norman Thomas was
quite right when he said that he no longer needed to seek office because the Democrats
had adopted the entire socialist platform. The goal of the Democrats is to convert
the two-party system into a one-party system, much the way Chavez has done in Venezuela.
Sure, others can run against him. but they and their supporters are the targets of constant
threats, intimidation and sometimes physical violence. They always lose. The way to
create a one party system in the USA is to hold onto the black vote, special interests
such as the unions and the environmentalists, and then take credit for amnesty to
twelve million illegal aliens who will always be grateful. Presto, a one-party
socialist monopoly, coming to the theater of the real near you.
What can be done about it? First, enough roadblocks, obstacles and trapdoors need
to be built in front of and into the Democrats' grandiose spending boondoggles to
assure that when they are no longer in power what they have done can be undone.
Be a real pain in the rear to your legislators, and lead neighborhood campaigns to vote
them out if they play along with the socialist juggernaut. Join tax protest tea parties
and anti-amnesty demonstrations. Sign petitions against Obama's budget. more
bailouts and the Dems' amnesty push. Blog on the internet against the socialist
drift. File nuisance lawsuits challenging reckless Dem initiatives on constitutional
grounds, of if you don't have the resources, send $20 to PACs that do. Log onto the
Heritage Foundation, AmericanSolutions and NumbersUSA websites and find out
about issues you're fuzzy on, and what you can do to help. Delay paying your
taxes as long as legally possible, to deny this reckless administration the use of
your money. Sit down and think about how YOU can make a difference, however
small, today.
Remember, too, that not all Democrats are Nancy Pelosi. They can think, too, and
in time many of them will see the writing on the wall -- that socialism is a big problem,
not a solution. Reach out to them. Talk to them. Keep respectfully raising issues until
they fall out of love with this president. Enough will eventually come around to rebuild
the centrist majority.
When the Nazis (National Socialists) invaded France during WWII, a group of
French patriots formed an effective underground that became legendary. The French
Resistance accomplished its goals and passed out of existence. Now it's time for a
new and vital American Resistance. Show Obama, Reid and Pelosi that the USA
still belongs to the people who built it.
